When it comes to wedding photography, many couples feel intimidated by the idea of being photographed – being in front of the camera. It’s understandable: you want to look your best, but at the same time, you don’t want to feel awkward or uncomfortable. That’s where a laid-back, easy-going photographer comes in – someone who puts all their attention on you and makes you feel relaxed and at ease.
That’s exactly the approach I take as a wedding photographer. I don’t give a shit about the photos, at least not in the way you might expect. Yes, of course, I want to take beautiful, memorable pictures that you’ll treasure for a lifetime, but that’s not the be-all and end-all of what I do. Instead, I focus on you as a couple, making you feel good and relaxed so that you can truly enjoy the experience of being photographed.
How do I do that? It’s simple: I just talk and hang out with you. I don’t force you into uncomfortable poses or use gimmicks to try and get a reaction. I let you be yourselves, and we do things that you enjoy and that reflect who you are as a couple. It could be anything – taking a walk in a beautiful park, exploring a funky urban neighbourhood, or just hanging out at your favorit coffee shop. Whatever it is, it’s something that you would do anyway, with or without a photographer there.
That’s the key to feeling comfortable in front of the camera – not feeling like you’re on a photoshoot, but just having fun and enjoying the time you spend together. When you’re relaxed and at ease, that’s when the magic happens. You’ll naturally smile, laugh, and interact with each other in a way that’s authentic and genuine. And that’s when I’ll be there, capturing those precious moments on camera.
When you are relaxed and enjoying yourself, we can perhaps do a bit more posed pictures. But even then, I’ll do my best to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. We’ll talk and joke around, and I’ll give you gentle guidance on how to pose in a way that feels natural and comfortable for you. And posed doesn’t mean like magazine posed, but just you guys holding each other. And it’s really that easy.
Ultimately, the goal is to create images that tell the story of your wedding day – not just the big moments, but the small ones too. The stolen glances, the inside jokes, the moments of quiet intimacy between the two of you. Those are the moments that will make you smile and bring back happy memories for years to come.
So if you’re feeling nervous or apprehensive about your wedding photography, don’t worry. With the right photographer, you can relax and enjoy the experience, knowing that you’re in good hands. And with me, you can be sure that I’ll put all my attention on you, making you feel comfortable and at ease so that you can truly enjoy your wedding day to the fullest.
