I know it can feel overwhelming, when you are no longer bound by tradition but actually can do what you want to.
It’s like streaming. We have all these streaming services now and all of them have so many options. So we have what is called ‘The Paradox of Choice’! Too many options makes it a lot harder to choose. So when you want to create your perfect elopement timeline, just close your eyes and let the images come to you. What do you see? Grab a pen and write it down. Narrow it in later.
You are always welcome to call me and have a talk about the options. I don’t care if you plan to book me, my phone is always open, if you want to know more about eloping in general.
But even if you have an idea where you wanna go, it may be a bit hard to know, how you can put a day together. So to help you get a better understanding of how an elopement could look, I have put together some example timelines. But first….
Many of the elopements I book these days are 4 to 8 hours. Yep, that’s a full day. You might be thinking: how can an elopement last an entire day? Well: this is your epic, magic, once in a lifetime day! Why shouldn’t it last a day? Why should it be cut short and done with in an hour?
The classic wedding typically takes the whole day, right? From preparations, ceremony, reception, cocktail party, dinner, dance and party. And that’s pretty standard.
But sometimes people think, that an elopement cannot be the same. That an elopement is just documenting the ceremony and doing some portraits afterwards. But who says, it can’t be all day? Who says, that your elopement can’t be an epic, meaningful day, that should be captured for you to relive as often as you’d like. And to be shared with your loved ones.
Think of the best day you can imagine? Create that day. From the moment you wake up, till the moment you go to bed. Where would you be? What would you do? Where would you eat? What would you wear? How would it look around you? What activities would you do? What adventure would you create? When you answer these questions, you’ll see, that it does not fit into a one or two hour hit and run photo session.
That does not mean, that it will be a full day, back to back, photoshoot, where I just pose you for hours on end. You will at times even forget I am there, ’cause I just wanna blend into the background, let your day unfold and capture that. The big things. And the little things. A lot of story and emotion is hidden in the little things. Maybe at some point you have a croissant and a coffee. I want you to remember that croissant and that coffee. The smell. The texture. The taste. I want your friends and family to experience that with you, when you are sitting around the table, looking through your album or passing on the photographs.
Now, let’s have a look a some timelines…
There are so many things the two of you can do together on your elopement day. If you wanna have a multiple day elopement, your options for creating a truly unique experience are just through the roof. You know of course what rocks your boat, but here are some examples, just to inspire you and show you what’s possible.
All of the above, the timeline examples and the suggestions for activities are not cookie cutter solutions. They are merely suggestions, meant to show you what is possible or to inspire you to create the day of your dreams. This is the day you are getting married. What do you want to do? How do you want to experience your day?
